I turn and begin to walk. These last few minutes have filled me with such a sense of excitement and exuberance that I want to run as fast as I can in whichever direction I happen to be facing at the time, just so I don’t combust or float away. Probably for the self- satisfaction of thinking that I’m “playing it cool” I have to calmly and assuredly, but not arrogantly, walk away. The intense internal pressure built up by controlling my urge to freak out in plain sight creates this little twitch in my hamstring, not obvious or uncomfortable, but just barely perceptible and seemingly a bit foolish, almost like the muscle is filled with the inhalation of a helium balloon.
As I walk this light-hearted hamstring and the contraction of the arch of my foot in order to keep from pressing the launch button in my New Balances creates an un-replicable bounce in my step that may or may not be outwardly visible, but it certainly feels like no way I’ve ever walked before. I stroll slowly as long as I can then oh-so-cool-ly turn the corner, and then I’m gone.
Theodore’s Hold You Like A Lover came out on Moonjaw Records (home of B3 fav’s Dust From 1,000 Years ) on February 9th.
